David Weil ’87, MS ’89, serves as Chief Information Officer on Ithaca College's senior leadership team. Weil is a national thought leader in higher education information technology and directs the entirety of the college’s IT operation, which includes Applications and Infrastructure, Engagement and Client Technologies, Information Security, and Learning and Innovative Technologies.
Over his 30-plus-year career at IC, Weil has held a number of positions throughout the college’s information technology organization and has been involved in numerous aspects of technology services, including academic computing, student and faculty support, policy development and enforcement, Web development and system administration, vendor relationships, and campus-wide technology planning.
Weil earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science and master’s degree in communications, both from Ithaca College. He is also active in EDUCAUSE, a national nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology. Weil is a graduate of the EDUCAUSE Frye Leadership and Leading Change Institutes. He is a frequent contributor to conversations about leadership and the role of IT in higher education, and has presented at numerous national conferences, conducted webinars, and published articles on these topics. He is one of the faculty members and co-creators of the EDUCAUSE Senior Director Leadership Institute, and routinely works with other IT leaders to further explore the topic of Digital Transformation (Dx) and other issues related to IT in higher education.
