Definition

Ithaca College defines Social Wellness as building healthy, respectful and supportive relationships in which people feel they belong; fostering genuine connections with those around you; developing the skills and resiliency to adapt in different social situations.

Student Campus Resources

Learn more about resources available on campus that help support student's social wellness.
  • Campus Programs and Events: Want to see what events are happening on-campus, you can login to Engage to find events. If you create an account on Engage you will receive a weekly email with upcoming events.
  • Club Sports: Around 40 club sport organizations, that include a mix of competitive, instructional and performance based groups. Competitive and instructional clubs for each sport that provide students with the opportunity to participate and compete in a sport without the strict and demanding environment of intercollegiate sports.
  • Intramural Programs: Intramural Sports program offers a wide variety of team sports through organized competitive and recreational leagues.
  • Jumpstart Program (new students and Jumpstart Leaders): New students can apply to attend one of several one-and-a-half-day pre-Orientation programs that cover a variety of topics including wellness, leadership, community service, arts, and specific identities.
  • Student Clubs and Organizations: IC Engage offers a full list of registered and active student organizations for students to see which ones they might like to join, and see what events are happening on campus. Students can search for organizations based on categories or interests.
  • IC Unity Network: ICUnity is a network of students, alumni, staff, parents, and friends associated with Ithaca College. We support diversity-related programs and events that facilitate improved interaction between people of different ethnic backgrounds, identities, religions, and orientations. 
  • Religious, Spiritual, and Secular Groups: Various partner affiliates and student organizations
  • Transfer Student Support: Resource for students who enroll in Ithaca College through a transfer pathway. Goal is to help students adapt to Ithaca College and provide them with the necessary resources to succeed.
  • BIPOC Unity Center Lounge: Our student lounge is located on the 3rd floor of the Campus Center, right beside our office space. The lounge is open as long as the Campus Center building is open and has 3 computers available to use. Whether you need somewhere to sit and study, eat your lunch without making a commute home, or you just want to watch YouTube videos on the projector, the BIPOC Unity Center Student Lounge is a great place to meet other students.
  • First Generation Student Lounge: Located on the top floor of Egbert Hall (Campus Center) Suite #342, the First Generation Center offers a dedicated space for first-generation college students to connect.
  • International Student Lounge
  • LGBT Student Lounge: Located in the Center for LGBT Education, Outreach and Services, the office's home in Towers Concourse Suite 110 features a relaxation room, a library, a kitchen with coffee and tea, and a big central lounge area!
  • Student Activities Center: The Student Activities Center is a space specifically for Student Organization leaders to convene! We have arts and crafts supplies, a reservable conference room, and many items and materials available for use to help make  your student organization successful. 
  • Residential Learning Communities: Provide a residential experience in which students learn, work on projects, and take in faculty presentations on a set topic or interest area such as wellness, STEM, outdoor adventure, identity, and more. Students also enjoy group social events together, and do activities based on the theme of the RLC.
  • Student Leadership Institute: The Student Leadership Institute (SLI) is a series of interactive workshops designed to help students develop and refine personal leadership skills. The SLI is open to all IC students, there is no cost to participate, and you may choose to take part in a series of sessions and earn a certificate - or attend any individual session YOU would like! Register for SLI workshops anytime on IC Engage! 
  • Peer Success Coaches: Peer Success Coaches (PSCs) are available to provide support and guidance to first- and second-year students as you navigate the college experience.  (Juniors and seniors seeking PSC services are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.) 
  • Bystander Intervention Certification Trainings (PEN Committee): A component of IC's Prevention Education Network (PEN), specific tracks are offered focused on developing skills in becoming a pro-social bystander.

  • IC Unity Network: ICUnity is a network of students, alumni, staff, parents, and friends associated with Ithaca College. We support diversity-related programs and events that facilitate improved interaction between people of different ethnic backgrounds, identities, religions, and orientations. 
  • Positive Employee Relations Program: Ithaca College's Positive Employee Relations program provides a platform for employees to develop and foster ongoing/long-term successful professional relationships with co-workers.
  • Women's Mentoring Network: Connecting women faculty and staff in meaningful ways to create a sense of community and belonging and uplift women to empower their success.
