Sean Linfors is currently Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education and Interim Director of Choral Activities at Ithaca College, where he has directed IC Choir, IC Chorus, and IC Madrigal Singers, and has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in choral conducting, choral literature, and choral methods. He received his undergraduate degree in trumpet performance from the University of Richmond, studying with Michael Davison, and graduate degrees in conducting and music education from Florida State University, where he studied with André Thomas, Kevin Fenton, Clifford Madsen, Judy Bowers, and Alex Jiménez. Prior to graduate study, he taught in the public schools in Florida and Virginia.
Dr. Linfors also serves as the Artistic Director for the Cayuga Vocal Ensemble and the Syracuse Chorale, groups with a combined almost one hundred years of community singing experience. Recent performances have featured diverse repertoire, notably Carol Barnett’s Bluegrass Mass and Reena Esmail’s This Love Between Us. Recent commissions have included Ola Gjeilo and Christopher Harris.
