Imagining Ithaca Open Session: Update on Progress

The team has been considering input and feedback from the campus community as they develop the mission, vision and values for the next phase of Imagining Ithaca, which will be announced soon.

There will be opportunity for questions and feedback during the session.

Dr. Luvelle Brown, Presenting on K-12 Students of Today, Implications for Us Tomorrow

Dr. Luvelle Brown, Superintendent of the Ithaca City School District, will present on the topic of K-12 Students of Today, Implications for Us Tomorrow.

Scholarship, Research, and Creative Inquiry Fair (SRCI)

Each semester, a Scholarship, Research and Creative Inquiry Fair is held where faculty and staff members are invited to present their research or scholarly work in a lightning round or poster format.

The fairs have been very successful with great turnouts, interesting topics and informative talks, not to mention festive wine, cheese and other refreshments. The event for the fall 2018 semester has been scheduled for Thursday, November 1, 2018, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM in the Clark Lounge.

NCUR Information Session

This will be a brief information session for students interested in participating in the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR).

The National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) is the largest conference on undergraduate research in the country. Each year, approximately 4,000 undergraduates from all over the country present their scholarship as posters, oral presentations, performances, and works of art. It is a great opportunity for students to present their research and network with other undergraduate researchers.

Fall 2018 Phi Kappa Phi Induction Ceremony and Reception

Phi Kappa Phi, founded in 1897, is the only national honor society which recognizes and encourages superior scholarship in all disciplines of higher education. The Greek letters Phi Kappa Phi stand for Philosophia Krateito Phonton -- “let the love of learning rule humanity.” Over its 117-year history the society has grown to more than 300 chapters with more than 1 million active members.

Graduate Hooding Ceremony

The College will recognize the special accomplishments of all graduating master's and doctoral candidates through a graduate hooding ceremony. Following a centuries-old tradition, master's and doctoral candidates will be formally hooded by their respective faculty. A reception will follow the program. All family and friends of graduate students are cordially invited to attend the ceremony and reception.
