Journalism Prof and students capture the civil rights movement

In January, 2019, Ithaca College sent a group of student-journalists with Professor James Rada to cover The Women's March in Washington, DC. The students produced content for social media and NBCNews.com and you can see coverage produced by Nicole Pimental and Justin Rouzier for WENY-TV. Along the way they caught up with alumni Tanya Hutchins '89, Communications Representative at the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) and Julia Manchester '15, reporter at The Hill.tv

Park School journalism students and faculty covered many events marking the 50th anniversary of major civil rights movements such as the March on Washington and the Selma, Alabama protest march. They shot footage for NBC Nightly News, provided content for NBCNews.com (and catch another story here), and blew up the twittersphere with sights and sounds from the day #icparkselma50. In January, 2019, With Infinite Hope: MLK and The Civil Rights Movement premiered on public television. To date, the program has aired more than 300 times on more than 75 public-television affiliates throughout the country.
