New for Fall 2024

Effective this fall, the Roy H. Park School of Communications has updated several of its majors. These exciting changes will provide more flexibility for students and allow you to choose courses that are matched to your career interests.

Updated Majors

Communication Strategy and Design

Create social impact, develop vision, invent strategy, and design communication solutions for organizations.

Film

Produce film in the genres of live action, documentary, and animation while also learning cinematography and directing.

Television, Photography, & Digital Media

Students learn to develop, manage, and produce studio and field video, photo, and audio content.

Continuing Majors

Advertising, Public Relations, and Marketing Communications

Covers the creative and strategic elements of advertising and public relations, with marketing courses from our Business School.

Documentary Studies and Production

Students explore the world telling non-fiction stories that matter for film, photo, TV, and digital media.

Journalism

Prepares students to cover and report the news across digital, broadcast, and print platforms.

Sports Media

Prepares students to cover sports issues and events across print, broadcast, and digital platforms.

Writing for Film, Television, and Emerging Media

Through screenwriting, students create characters and story-worlds for film, television, and digital services.

Park Pathways

Park Pathways provides students an alternative to applying directly into a specific Park School degree program, offering an opportunity to be admitted to the Park School and explore coursework across programs for up to three semesters before declaring their major.

Cinema and Photography B.S. and Emerging Media B.S. - Final entry term: Spring 2024

Ithaca College students currently enrolled in these majors will be supported through completion of their degree. (For degree requirements, please refer to the Ithaca College catalog for the year when you declared the major.)

For Cinema and Photography, students entering in fall 2024 have been assigned to our new Film major.

For Emerging Media, students entering in fall 2024 have been assigned to our new Television, Photography, and Digital Media major, in which they will be able to choose a concentration in Emerging Media.
