Professional development, internships, leadership, our New York State registered program—a four-year B.S. and one-year M.S. in accounting—prepares students to sit for the CPA exam and become true professionals. Our students earn some of the best CPA exam pass rates in the state and graduate ready to put their knowledge and skills to use.

As an accounting major, you will receive a thorough grounding in accounting and business principles, learn to be an effective communicator, and have many opportunities to develop your leadership potential in the accounting and finance honor society, Beta Alpha Psi, the IC chapter of NABA, the National Association of Black Accountants or numerous other student organizations. Whether you decide to go right to work in tax, assurance, consulting, finance, or management, or further your studies in a graduate program—you’ll be ready for success.

While studying at Ithaca College, you can join one or more organizations, including the Beta Alpha Psi honor society, the Ithaca College Accounting Association, and the National Association of Black Accountants. Not only will you develop lifelong friends, you’ll also have the opportunity to network with alumni and make valuable business contacts.

Head to Alaska during spring break to prepare tax returns for native Alaskans in remote villages as part of our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA). Get real-world experience with an internship at one of the “big four” accounting firms in New York City. Study abroad at our London Center to get an international perspective and multicultural experience. At Ithaca College, there are plenty of opportunities for you to expand your worldview while gaining professional experience.

Accounting students tend to be very capable and motivated students. At Ithaca College many accounting majors double major in finance or have minors outside the Business School. Your faculty adviser will work with you to help you plan an ambitious and challenging program that goes well beyond the standard accounting program.
