Welcome to the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology

Provides an exceptional academic and clinical program in communication disorders to prepare you for professional practice in a dynamic and diverse society.

The speech-language pathology (SLP) program at Ithaca College blends the multifaceted worlds of health sciences, speech and hearing sciences, communication, and communication disorders. As an undergraduate, we focus on providing you with an excellent foundation in basic human communication processes, development, and disorders. You are also exposed to a broad-based experience in liberal arts and general education coursework to complement your discipline-specific learning. A hands-on capstone experience during the junior or senior year completes your undergraduate training. Work with clients on-campus at the Sir Alexander Ewing-Ithaca College Speech and Hearing Clinic or at an approved off-campus clinic site.

Accreditation

The master’s of science program in speech-language pathology at Ithaca College is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard #310, Rockville, Maryland 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700.

Our current accreditation period extends through January 31, 2027.

SLPA Faculty Take Leadership Roles
  • Dr. Lynne Hewitt, Professor and Chair, is serving a 3-year term as an Editor for the American Journal of Speech-Language-Pathology.
  • Ms. Jana Waller, Clinical Assistant Professor and Associate Dean, HERS alumna, is serving a two-year term as chair of the Council on Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD) Online Professional Development Committee.
  • Dr. Amy Rominger, Clinical Associate Professor, is serving on the New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association convention committee.
