Emilio Zurita '13 | Emilio is currently a set and lighting designer based in Mexico City.
His most recent projects include editing and designing "Lotería rusa: Chéjov en cachitos" a play based on Chekhov's most famous plays designed to be streamed online. In the last few years he worked on the design for new Mexican plays like "El juego: o la revancha perpetua" by Héctor Flores Komatsu (and adapted from the Mayan creation narrative of The Popol Vuh), "Sueños" by Allan Poumian and "No Ser Sino Parecer" by Sergio Galindo. He also designed an award winning production of "Hello Dolly!" and adapted the design of international productions of the musicals "Young Frankenstein", "Sugar", and "Ghost".
Emilio is currently working in the set and lighting design of Mexico's premiere production of Paula Vogel's "Indecent" directed by Anya Saffir, the Mexican premiere production of "An Iliad" by Denis O'Hare and Lisa Peterson, and an international co-production of "Algo Pasó", a new play by Thomas Köck that will open in Stuttgart's Kammertheater and produced by Staatstheater Stuttgart.
Emilio is currently teaching Set design and History of set design at CENTRO Universidad in Mexico City and participating in various programs by the Prague Quadrennial and OISTAT through El Colegio Mexicano de Diseño Escénico.
