The charge of the Guest Artist, Performances, and Events Committee is to facilitate requests, shepherd the request and review process for school-wide guest artists, discuss logistical needs for performances and events and communicate needs to help coordinate marketing for the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, ensuring alignment with the vision and mission of the school.

Application Process

SEGA reviews applications that have resource implications (financial, human and facility). 

The committee will make a call for applications at the beginning of the Spring Semester and will review application beginning April 1st for the following academic year. 

In reviewing applications the following criteria are considered and valued:

  • Largest impact on the greatest number students.
  • Guests that bring the largest outside audience into our spaces.
  • Supporting or developing organizational relationships.
  • Widest and most equitable distribution of resources across the school.
  • Support guests that bring/model inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility.

Please find various resources for requesting and hosting a guest in MTD.

When guests are approved there may need to be additional requests made for various support. These might include:

  1. Contract Generation
  2. Facility Reservation
  3. Travel / Housing
  4. Local Transportation
  5. Catering
  6. Marketing 
  7. Program Support
  8. Rights
  9. Ushering
  10. Ticketing

Then depending upon the venue there might be additional support needed:

  3. Webcasting


Dillingham

  1. Scenery
  2. Properties
  3. Lighting
  4. Sound
  5. Costumes

When a guest arrives on campus - it is the responsibility of the proposer to serve as a "host".  This includes (but is not limited to):

  • Confirm all of the resources are in place (see above.)
  • Greet guest upon arrival in Ithaca and/or on campus.
  • Ensure there are photos taken at the event.
  • Providing a "thank you" note post event.
  • Providing Dean's Office with a "blurb" and photo of the event to post on our socials.
