Stillwater Magazine is an annual undergraduate art and literary magazine housed in the Ithaca College Department of Writing. Every year, Stillwater showcases the talent and diversity of the artistic voices of IC students through their original prose, poetry, nonfiction essays, art, and photography.
Issue #61, 2021–2022
If we’ve made similar observations over the past two years, they’ve been observations of different spaces, ones separated by distance and time zones—even oceans. There is significance in experiencing the same weather, the same climate—being waylaid by the same snowstorms and indulging in the same warm oases.

Get Involved with Stillwater Magazine
Stillwater Magazine produces content throughout the academic year. Every fall, editors contribute to the online features, Art Causes a Ripple and the Stillwater Blog. In spring, attention turns to our annual digital issue, when editors curate the magazine, working closely with our contributors from acceptance to publication. Each May, senior editors celebrate our contributors with a public launch party; they also nominate various works for international prizes.
How to Submit Work for Publication:
- Submissions may be any previously unpublished work from Ithaca College undergraduate or graduate students from all majors, regardless of background.
- All genres and media are accepted.

How to Join Our Staff:
- Senior editor position openings are posted early in May, with senior editors hired by the first week of June.
- Interviews for the editorial staff at large are conducted in September.
