FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS REQUESTING MUSICIANS

To request Ithaca College musicians, you must fill out the MusIC in the Community Request Form. This form is then submitted to the Music Office, and a representative will reach out to appropriate professors and students who may be interested in performing at the event. If a student musician is interested in your event, you will be contacted. Students performing as featured performers at non-profit events may donate their time, but if they are requested to perform background or dance music, then payment will be expected. Rates for student musicians are negotiable.

This form is submitted to the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, and a representative will then reach out to appropriate professors and students who may be interested in performing at the event. If a student musician is interested in your event, you will be contacted. Students performing at private businesses or events must be paid. Rates for student musicians are negotiable.

Yes. To request a specific ensemble, check the ensemble type on the MusIC in the Community form. If the ensemble is not listed, notate the type in the additional information section at the bottom of the form. Please note that the specific ensemble may not be available.
FOR ITHACA COLLEGE STUDENTS

Every semester you should register your ensemble, so the Music Office knows that you are available to be contacted for paid performances. When an opportunity becomes available for your instrumentation, your group's representative will be contacted.

Yes, you do need to supply your own accompanist. Please speak with your studio professor about available student accompanists.

No, you may not cancel booked performance unless you have a major illness, severe weather warnings, or a family emergency. When you fill out the student form, you electronically sign an agreement that commits you to that performance. Venues specifically request Ithaca College School of Music, Theatre, and Dance students to play at their event. Unexpected cancellations are extremely inconvenient to all parties.

Music that is consistently played at a loud dynamic is typically inappropriate for a hospital setting. Please speak to your studio professor about appropriate music selections.
