Accessible Audio and Video

Creating accessible audio and video content is a key component of communication access. Whether you are assigning a video to a class, producing a podcast, or creating video content for a marketing campaign, use the following guidelines to ensure your content can reach the widest audience possible.

What does it mean to have accessible audio and video?

There are a few requirements to ensure that your audio and video content are accessible.

  • Audio-only files - must have a transcript file
  • Video with audio - should have captions, a transcript, and, ideally, both audio description and/or a transcript that includes audio description
  • Video only - should have an audio description track and/or a transcript that includes audio description
