I began my career at Ithaca College as a Residence Director in July, 2017, and started working with the BOLD Program in November, 2018. I am from the small town of Cohocton, NY, which is only about an hour and a half from Ithaca. I received my BA in Psychology at Canisius College, in Buffalo, NY. I was a first generation student, and looking back I realize how much I didn’t know about college, and how difficult it was for me to navigate higher education. That is partly what led me to obtain my master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration, also from Canisius College. I am passionate about working with students, especially first generation students. Currently, as the BOLD Program Director, my efforts are focused on empowering female identifying students. The program is designed to foster intergenerational mentorship, leadership development, and professional networking, all while exploring the unique experiences of women, specifically those who are from historically marginalized identities.
A little about me personally – I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer Teacher in Ghana from 2012-2014. I am passionate about traveling and I’ve been to 5/7 continents. My goal would be to make it to every country in the world one day. I love meeting people from all over the globe, talking to them, hearing their stories, trying new food, and absorbing the beauty of the world. I enjoy reading, hiking, music, spending time with my finance, friends, and family. I’m a big Netflix fan, and I love a good cup of iced coffee! I’d be happy to meet and chat about what it’s like to be a first generation college student, or anything else you’d like to discuss!
