Important Notice about IC Commencement Weekend Celebrations

Dear Commencement Celebrants, Family, Friends, and Supporters,

We are excited to be celebrating the achievements of our students and soon-to-be graduates.

Commencement is a very important moment for our students. It is when the past, present, and future join hands in a moment of recognition, jubilation, and possibility. It is a solemn ceremony, yes, but also a joyous one of enthusiastic pride in a job well done. To all of our Ithaca College students, and to the faculty, staff, and other supporters who helped them get to this day, we say: “Well done!”

We are committed to holding safe and respectful Commencement Weekend celebrations. As such, we want you to be aware of several measures we are taking at the Athletics & Events Center for the Saturday Graduate Hooding and Commencement Ceremony, the Commencement Eve Concert, and Sunday’s undergraduate Commencement.

• All attendees, including graduates, those involved in academic processions, performers, and guests, must pass through security screening similar to what is used at sporting and other large events.

• On Sunday only: any individual wishing to enter the Athletics & Events Center must present a ticket, Marching Order GradPass, or equivalent credential for the Commencement Ceremony.

• The following items may not be taken into any venue:
- Noise makers
- Signs of any kind
- Flags and banners
- Inflatable balls
- Weapons, including, but not limited to, firearms, knives, and pepper spray
- Coolers
- Briefcases
- Backpacks or other large bags
- Fanny packs

• Violations of the Ithaca College Student Conduct Code and/or Rules for the Maintenance of Public Order may result in disciplinary and/or legal action.

Those planning to attend or participate in our Commencement Weekend activities can find more information here.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we strive to hold joyful celebrations of all that our students have accomplished. They have earned and deserve nothing less.

And speaking directly to our students, who will shortly become alumni, please stay in touch and come back to visit often. Congratulations!

Sincerely,

Melanie I. Stein
