Center for Faculty Excellence

The CFE promotes equitable organizational change, develops inclusive teaching pedagogy, presents resources that support faculty roles as educators and scholars, offers mentorship and support, and provides award and grant opportunities for Ithaca College faculty.

What does the Center for Faculty Excellence do?

Sponsors and organizes programs such as the Provost's Colloquium: Celebrating Faculty Creativity, Innovation, and Inquiry; the New Faculty Institute; Teaching Excellence Institute; Antiracism Institute; Summer Institute; First-Year Seminar Institute; Mutual Mentoring; Dana Teaching Fellows; Tenure and Promotion workshops; IC Week of Teaching; and Chairs Leadership Academy. 

Administers and coordinates awards and grants including Faculty Research and Development (FRD), Faculty Excellence Awards, Instructional Development Award, Small Grants for Course Development or Redesign, Mutual Mentoring, and Summer Grants for Faculty Scholarly or Creative Work.

Maintains resources for faculty such as the CFE lending library and the ICTeach Listserv.

Provides consultation and support in areas such as assessment, Universal Design for Learning, equity and access, course evaluations, curriculum design and pedagogy, and class observations.

We collaborate with our partners, including Center for Instructional Design and Educational Technologies, Library, Student Accessibility Services, Writing Center, Sponsored Research, Counseling and Psychological Services, ICare, Center for Student Success, Center for Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, and the Provost's Office.
