Dr. Germain was selected by the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) to serve as a Dana Teaching Fellow from 2019-2021. In this role, Dr. Germain co-designed and implemented asynchronous learning modules for faculty participants in the Early Career Excellence Institute complimenting synchronous institute events and discussion. Asynchronous modules utilized the Universal Design for Learning framework for faculty participants by providing multiple options of engagement, representation, and expression.
As a Dana Teaching Fellow, Dr. Germain co-designed and instructed a 5-week on-line summer workshop series for 300+ faculty across all Ithaca College schools with a focus on flexible pedagogy and instruction (in-person, hybrid online, and hy-flex combinations). Universal Design for Learning, antiracism, and equity were key features of the institute. Dr. Germain served as the lead designer and facilitator for module two of five: Enhancing Significance by Aligning Course Elements. To date, this is the largest event focusing on pedagogy at the institution.
In her role as Senior Teaching Fellow, Dr. Germain co-designs and facilitates the year-long Early Career and Excellence Institute. This institute focuses on applying and critiquing evidence-informed pedagogy in higher education with alignment with the strategic plan of the college with faculty participants.
