Chrissy Guest is an Associate Professor in the Department of Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies at Ithaca College. She earned her M.F.A in Creative Writing and her B.S. in Cultural Studies, Television Production. An award-winning educator, she received the University Film and Video Association Excellence in Teaching Award in 2019 and was a feature Entertainment Educator in Variety Magazine the same year. She instructs courses focused on directing and television production using multi-camera studio techniques and socially conscious storytelling. She created the award-winning course Television Live Event Production a 400-level production course that produces content coverage for remote locations. Her broadcast career spans fifteen years as a director/technical director, art-director, photojournalist, and assignment editor for news affiliates.
Guest’s research centers on career trajectory for women entering the animation field. Her award-winning short documentary film The Women of Titmouse Animation has had invitational screenings at Breaking the Glass Frame Symposium, University Film & Television Association, Los Angeles Animation Festival and Broadcast Educator’s Association. The short is part of a larger docu-series Beyond Ink & Paint: The Women of Animation, which examines the history and studio culture surrounding women working in animation from the 1970’s to present day. Guest has interviewed nearly 60 prominent women working across varying animation disciplines.
