Courtney Young is a director, choreographer, educator, performer whose professional credits include plays, musicals, operas, concerts, and new works. She began her career as a performer appearing in eight Broadway shows and national tours including The Producers, Young Frankenstein, The Full Monty, Little Me, Cats, Fosse, Joseph... Dreamcoat and The Radio City Rockettes. She honed her craft as a director under the tutelage of Susan Stroman, Garry Hynes, John Rando, Robert Longbottom, and Susan Schulman. As a director/choreographer she has worked at The National Opera at The Kennedy Center, Casa Mañana Theatre, Paper Mill Playhouse, City Centers Encores!, The Hangar Theatre and more. At Ithaca College she has worked on productions such as Head Over Heels, Ragtime, Wonderful Town, The Cradle Will Rock, and Winter Bodies as the choreographer and Twelfth Night The Musical, Sister Act, Unicorn Girl and Wonderful Town as the director. She is blessed to have maintained a career in theatre for three decades and is excited to be creating a new musical that focuses on the relationships between mothers and daughters with IC playwriting professor Saviana Stanescu and composer/lyricist Julián Mesri.
