Originally from Rochester, NY, DeAnne Stewart received her BFA in Musical Theatre from Ithaca College. Her passion for the arts was always evident and unsurprising given both her parents' musical backgrounds. In addition to winning various vocal competitions in her early years, DeAnne was a featured soloist in the Ithaca Voices' "Tribute to Broadway" concert and has performed at the famed George Eastman Theatre with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Pops under the direction of Jeff Tyzik. She's always had a diverse taste in music and to date has performed traditional and contemporary musical theatre, gospel, r&b, country, rock, folk and jazz.
Her time in NYC kicked off with a wild ride that included losing her mother to cancer just before making her NYC debut as Lt. Uvula in Warp Speed: A Sci Fi Parody Musical! [Best Actress in a Musical, Midtown International Theatre Festival]. Immediately after, she became a member of the Actors Equity Association and debuted Off-Broadway in Mighty Real: A Fabulous Sylvester Musical! In addition to leaving the city to perform regionally with Mighty Real and internationally with Royal Caribbean, DeAnne has been a part of developmental projects with amazing playwrights, composers and directors including Tony Award and Emmy Winner Andre De Sheilds. DeAnne's career has taken her across the US, Canada, and over 20 other countries around the world. Although the majority of her time is spent in NYC these days, she occasionally gets to perform abroad with the entertainment act, Marcus Terell and the Serenades.
The last few years have been full of new discoveries and professional endeavors. DeAnne has experienced firsts in film, tv and modeling opportunities which have led to seconds, thirds and so on (see some examples on the Media page ). She is excited to dig her roots even deeper in those fields and expand her professional landscape. She also looks forward to devoting more time to her passions of theatre for social change and youth arts education, particularly in underserved and underrepresented communities.
