The Fifes & Drums of Ithaca
The Fifes & Drums of Ithaca is a student organization sponsored by the Student Government Association dedicated to preserving the art of ancient American military music. The corps plays music from the Revolutionary War through the Civil War periods. They perform on traditional six hole fifes and rope tension snare and bass drums. The corps rehearses once a week on Thursdays from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Performances include outdoor concerts for the Ithaca College community, intermission of percussion ensemble concerts, off campus performances and parades, as well as musters which are gatherings of many fife and drums corps. Although the corps is new, they are well regarded in the world of fifing and drumming. For more information, visit www.ithaca.edu/fifesanddrums or contact Ernest Backus.
