Dr. Costello is an Assistant Professor in the Physical Therapy Department at Ithaca College, where he teaches courses addressing the management of orthopedic conditions, psychosocial aspects of patient care, and clinical research. Prior to joining the faculty at Ithaca College, he was the founding Director/Coordinator of the Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program and Spine Fellowship Program at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY, where he continues to mentor and teach courses related to clinical reasoning, management of spinal conditions, clinical application of pain sciences, and manual therapy.
His research explores the management of pain, performing arts rehabilitation, and Tai Chi. In clinical practice he continues to work with individuals with persistent neuro-musculo-skeletal pain conditions, with a focus on performing artists.
He is active in the local music scene, playing bass and guitar. He continues to practice Chinese Martial Arts daily. He enjoys time outside and playing with his children.
