Ryan Sigurdson

Ryan (he/him) is an award-winning musical director, educator, pianist and composer based in Toronto, Canada. The three seasons prior to the pandemic saw Ryan playing keyboard one with the first Broadway national tour of Anastasia and conducting the second national of R+H's Cinderella. Ryan has also recently musical directed the world premiere of Tommy Newman’s With Bells On! for Theatre Network in his hometown of Edmonton, Alberta. Ryan has been on faculty at the University of Cincinnati-CCM musical theatre program and more recently at Sheridan College in Oakville Ontario, teaching in the Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre program. Ryan is currently a visiting assistant professor of musical theatre at Ithaca College.

Ryan’s training began with a BSc (Hon) studying Cellular Biology at the University of Alberta. After completing this degree, and various options in choral conducting and violin performance, he switched into a diploma in Theatre Arts at MacEwan University. Realizing his real joy existed under the stage, Ryan pursued work as a musical director and educator. He has musical directed over 50 productions to date. He completed a MMus in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Cincinnati before moving to New York, joining the BMI workshop, and conducting for Baayork Lee’s National Asian Artists Project. Ryan’s voice training has included studies in Linklater with David Smukler and in Estill with Anne-Marie Speed.
