I'm Katharine Kittredge, the head of of this Merry Band. I grew up reading the "funny papers," and comics like Scrooge McDuck and Little Lulu. As a coordinator of ITHACON, Ithaca's long-running comic book convention, I have been introduced to many new graphic novels and have come to appreciate their range and complexity. I am especially drawn to graphic memoirs like Fun Home and Hey, Kiddo, but I also love science fiction series like Saga and Bitch Planet.

The "Graphic Novel Advisory Board" is a group of IC students who get together to review children's and teens graphic novels. They share their findings with rural librarians and discuss ways for them to enhance their collections of graphic novels.

Hi! I’m Kaitlyn Dennehy and I’m a Senior English and Writing major at Ithaca College. I enjoy reading YA literature, graphic novels, as well as contemporary and fantasy fiction. I’ve been reading graphic novels for a long time, and I think they’re a great way to merge the visual with the literary! My favorite graphic novels are Tillie Walden’s Are You Listening, and Fun Home by Alison Bechdel.

Hi, I’m Jalen. Currently, I’m in my third year at IC pursuing a degree in English with minors in Writing and Education Studies. I love learning, teaching, and especially enjoy reading and writing. By reading graphic novels, we can find freedom in language and imagination. It’s important to me that all readers have access to the graphic novels that they can see themselves in. Personally, my favorite is El Deafo by Cece Bell.

Greetings and salutations! I’m Julia Stitely (they/she) and I’m a sophomore Writing for Film, TV and Emerging Media Major with a minor in Women, Gender and Sexuality studies. Besides my love for YA and children's books, I love the graphic novels and mangas in those genres. Some of my favorite graphic novels and mangas include Heartstopper series by Alice Oseman, The Witch Boy series by Molly Knox Ostertag, and Orange series by Ichigo Takano

Hi! I’m Elizabeth Cordone, and I’m a junior Television-Radio major at IC. I’ve loved reading both comic books and graphic novels since I was a kid, and I am fascinated by the way different styles of art and writing combine to create rich and complex stories. Some of my recent favorite graphic novels are Nimona by Noelle Stevenson and Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, and my current favorite comic book is Bilquis Evely’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
