To celebrate excellence in independent media from 2019, the Park Center for Independent Media will host the 12th Izzy Award on October 28 at 6:00 p.m. EDT. The 45-minute ceremony, hosted by PCIM Director Raza Rumi, will feature a speech from each of the three award recipients.
Matt Taibbi is being honored for his exceptional stories on media bias in conservative and liberal news that culminated in his book "Hate Inc." Also receiving an Izzy is “News Inside,” a publication of The Marshall Project, for its work to bring reporting written by current and former inmates to prisoners throughout the U.S. and Canada. And Centro de Periodismo Investigativo is awarded for revealing the Puerto Rican government’s negligent disaster preparedness amid Hurricane Maria and exposing secret chats that ousted the governor.
