Being a Residence Director/Community Director (RD/CD) at Ithaca College brings with it numerous professional growth and development opportunities. Some of these include:
- Each new RD will be assigned a mentor from our management team or Student Affairs.
- Opportunity to serve as a chair and as a member of department-wide committees and task forces, (e.g., RA Training and Selection, Professional Staff Development, Inclusion and Social Justice, Residential Education).
- Opportunity to serve as a member of Institutional and Divisional Committees.
- Opportunity to participate in an auxiliary work experience (not available to first-year employees) in another campus office (e.g., Office of Counseling and Wellness, Office of Student Engagement, Center for IDEAS).
- Professional development series both within the department and at the division level.
- Opportunity to present at Student Leadership Institute.
- Availability of Professional Development funds which can be applied to conferences, or other educational opportunities.
- Tuition for up to 8 credits per semester waived with supervisor approval.
- Summer assignment in a functional area such as Room Assignments, Summer Operations, Summer Conferences, Summer College Program for High School Students, or Staff Development.
- Opportunity to supervise a student Office Assistant (OA) (budgeted hours vary by residence area).
- Opportunity to advise the Residence Hall Association.
