Ithaca College is committed to ensuring that students with disabilities have appropriate access to events hosted in the residence halls and apartments. The Offices of Residential Life and Student Conduct and Community Standards are available to work with any event sponsor or student.
Pre-Event Publicity: Residence Hall and Apartment events will be scheduled in accessible locations whenever feasible. Pre-event publicity and pre-registration will invite potential participants to request any disability-related accommodation that they may need. Pre-event publicity, including all Residential Life staff events, will include the name and telephone number/email of a person to contact for additional information, in the following format:
- Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact [insert name and contact information here]. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
Resources: Ithaca College has resources that can provide event planning guidance on how to plan events to maximize the opportunities for participation by persons with disabilities, including how to respond to requests for accommodations such as requests for relocation, for interpreters, or for other forms of accommodation. For events in the residence halls and apartments, the Associate Director for Residential Life and Student Conduct and Community Standards will serve as the point person for these resources (Residential Life Central Office, East Tower Lobby, 607-274-3141).
Requests for Accommodation or event relocation: Individuals seeking accommodations in order to participate in events hosted in the residence halls and apartments are encouraged to provide as much advance notice as possible. Requests should be made at a minimum of 3 days (72 hours) in advance, so that there is sufficient time to provide accommodations or relocate an event.
