1) Call our office at 607-274-3222 or stop into the Office of Student Engagement to set-up a meeting with a member of the Student Organization Recognition Team. At your meeting with this team member, you'll have the opportunity to discuss your idea for a student organization, the requirements to do so, and start the work of making it a reality. After your meeting, you will receive communications from Office of Student Engagement Staff regarding these next steps with important links and other useful information.
2) Complete the registration form on IC Engage. This includes: creating your organization page, ensuring you have ten active member roster (you must have at least 4 Officers which includes 1 President and 1 Treasurer, and 1 advisor), and uploading a constitution. You must create your Constitution for the 2024-2025 academic year and ensure it follows the template located on our Constitution Template site. Upon approval of this registration form, Engage will automatically send a "Terms and Conditions" Email to your Advisor; please make sure you discuss this with your Advisor before submitting. Terms and Conditions must be accepted in order to complete the Re-Recognition Process. This form must be completed FIRST. Once it is approved, the 4 Designated Officers will receive a link to the Officers' Quiz.
3) All Officers should review the Student Organization Handbook
4) The 4 Designated Officers will be assigned the Officers' Quiz. The quiz will be emailed to the current roster of your student organization by the Office of Student Engagement, but it is linked here as well. Think of this as an open-book quiz because all of the answers can be found in the Student Organization Handbook.
5) The 4 Designated Officers must attend at least 1 Leading @IC SLI in the semester in which you are completing the NSOR Process. Workshop dates/times/locations can be found on IC Engage.
Alternative Option for the Fall Semester SLI Requirement: The Designated Officers may attend the Student Organization Conference, which will occur in September 2024 (during the grace period), and can count for Fall Semester SLI requirements.
6) Maintaining Recognition in the Spring Semester: The Spring Semester SLI Requirement in order to maintain recognition can be satisfied by attending at least one Leading @ IC or Leading Others SLI session in the Spring Semester.
