New Student Orientation for Fall 2024 Athletes

In order to accommodate the busy practice schedules of new fall athletes, an early arrival Fall Athlete Orientation will be offered on August 19-20. Click on the dates below to view each day's schedule of events. Please note that athletes are also required to attend certain events during the regular Fall 2024 Orientation schedule (see below).

New Fall Athlete Orientation Schedule

*Attendance will be taken at these required events
  • 9 a.m.–4 p.m. *Early Arrival Move-in and Orientation Check-in (for tennis, golf, & cross country), Athletics and Events Center Arena
    • Check in to receive your room key, ID card, and orientation materials then move in to your residence hall.
  • 4:15–4:45 p.m. Early Arrival New Student & Family/Supporter Welcome, Athletics and EventsCenter Arena
    • Kick off orientation with a short welcome with some IC VIPs and a chance to win some IC swag!
  • 7–8:15 p.m. *Residential Floor and Cluster Meetings for Athletes, Textor 102
    • Meet and connect with other students living in your residential cluster, your Resident Assistant (RA), and floormates, and learn about community living.
  • 11 a.m.–noon *Fall Athlete Meet & Greet/Opening Session, IC Square (Food Court) in Campus Center
    • This welcome session and opening activity provides an opportunity to meet Athletics and NSTP staff 
  • Noon–1 p.m. *Lunch with Orientation Leaders (OLs), Campus Center Dining Hall
    • Meet with your OL and small group to ask questions, receive personalized advice, and learn about campus culture.
  • 1–2 p.m. *IC Your Wellness, Textor 102
    • Explore the IC resources available to support your wellness throughout your college journey. This session will feature the Center for Health Promotion, Counseling and Psychological Services, and the Office of ICare and Student Support.
  • 2:10–3:10 p.m. *Safety on Campus, Textor 102
    • Your Title IX and Public Safety teams are here to help you understand your rights, resources, and how to support one another by contributing to a campus community that promotes safety and respect.
  • 3:20–4 p.m. *Bringing your A Game, Textor 102
    • Join coaches from the Center for Student Success to learn about resources and strategies for making a successful transition from high school to college academics.
  • 4:10–5:40 p.m. *What’s Up with Identity: Talking About Who We Are, Textor 102
    • An interactive session that dives deep into what makes up our identities. All students who attend will get free personalized art to take home.
  • 5:40-6 p.m. *Wrap Up, New Student & Transition Programs, Textor 102
    • A chance to talk with NSTP about the rest of orientation and ask any remaining questions you may have about the New Student Checklist. 
Required Fall 2024 Orientation Sessions

Please note that all new fall athletes are also required to attend the following sessions during the regular Fall 2024 Orientation program: 

  • Thursday, August 22: *Academic Session I
  • Friday, August 23: *Convocation and Community Lunch
  • Friday, August 23: *Academic Session II
