"From the moment I committed to Ithaca College I knew I wanted to be proactive in my academic community. By October of my first semester, I knew I wanted to become involved in some sort of research project. A particular area of interest to me was crisis communications— which is a very specific niche within the strategic communication field. I knew of Dr. Cory Young and her involvement in crisis communication, so one evening I decided to shoot her an email asking about potential research opportunities. The next day she replied and was happy to meet in her office. "
