Occupational Safety Polices
As an employer, Ithaca College must adhere to the safety regulations of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the New York State Department of Labor (DOL). The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) is responsible for ensuring that the College implements and follows all of the necessary safety programs, procedures, and policies. Our personnel work with the College's administrators, faculty, and staff to help maintain a safe working environment. They also develop and maintain health and safety programs and services as required by OSHA and DOL. These include:

- Employee safety training sessions
- Respirator fit tests
- Inspections for work area safety
- Monitoring or sampling of the workplace environment and personal chemical exposure
- Accident evaluations
- Testing of laboratory fume hood ventilation systems
- Inspections and testing of emergency eyewash and shower stations
- Consultation on personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Monitoring of indoor air quality
- Biohazardous waste management
- Sampling of potential asbestos-containing materials
