Elizabeth Meszaros is a consummate chamber and orchestral musician. As an active performer in Hampton Roads, Virginia, she regularly appears with the Virginia Symphony, Virginia Opera, Williamsburg Symphony, and Richmond Symphony, and is the cellist of the New Commonwealth Quartet.
She earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Maryland as a member of the Adelphi Quartet, the graduate string quartet-in-residence, under the tutelage of the Guarneri Quartet. She also holds a Master of Music in Cello Performance from Louisiana State University, and Bachelors in Music Performance and Education from Ithaca College. Her primary cello teachers were Evelyn Elsing, Dennis Parker, and Elizabeth Simkin.
As a passionate educator, Dr. Meszaros maintains a large private studio of cello students and is a certified Suzuki Cello instructor, Books 1-10. She currently teaches Suzuki Cello at the Academy of Music in Norfolk and maintains a private studio. She serves as the Executive Director of the Bay Youth Orchestras of Virginia. Elizabeth plays on a cello from the Forster School in England made in 1820. She resides in Norfolk with her Golden Retriever Frankie and enjoys rock climbing, camping, and hiking.
