London 50th - Schedule of Events

Friday, June 28, 2024: 50 Years and . . . Remembering 

Start with a return visit to ICLC at 35 Harrington Gardens to check in, pick up your name tag, and collect your commemorative umbrella. The building will be open to welcome visitors with coffee, tea, and biscuits. Meet current staff, tour the building, find the group picture from your semester on our staircase, and hear about the history and future of the ICLC program.

Check-in for the 50th Anniversary Celebration is available from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

During his 18 years as Director, Bill Sheasgreen took all ICLC students on walks throughout London, sharing his wide knowledge of the city’s rich history. Join a local tour guides on a walking tour that is sure to evoke great memories of Bill and your time abroad.
These guided walks will begin at the Ithaca College London Center.

BE A STUDENT AGAIN
Dive into London culture, history, or art! Hear from IC faculty and experts in the field in sessions at the Ithaca College London Center or at museums and galleries around London.

Educational Session I: CLASS 
Enjoy the nostalgia of taking a class with one of our ICLC Professors. 
Educational Session II:  Art in the V&A 
Go on a class field trip to the nearby Victoria & Albert Museum for a guided tour with one of our professors.

CLASSES take place at the Ithaca College London Center.

The V&A Tours take place at the Victoria & Albert Museum. Meet at the Front Steps of the V&A on Cromwell Road

1:00pm - 5:00pmRIVER THAMES BOAT CRUISE 
Join us on a celebration up and down the river Thames. Our private river boat will be our vessel to explore London’s rich history, give us an up-close view of London’s architecture, and serve as the official kick-off to ICLC’s 50th celebration weekend. Refreshments and alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.

8:00pm - 10:30pmPUB NIGHT AT THE FAMOUS THREE KINGS 
Everyone is welcome to attend this informal gathering at the Famous Three Kings. A large private space in the back is reserved for those who prefer to soak up the London pub vibe while also having a dedicated space to chat with other alumni. (cash bar)

Check-in for the 50th Anniversary Celebration is available from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Please note that the London Pride Parade (prideinlondon.org) will be happening today. As a result, there will be crowds around the Soho area and Trafalgar Square. The tube and other modes of travel may be busier than usual, so please plan accordingly and allow for extra time to get to your destination.

Explore London at your own pace. Revisit a favorite spot from your college days, stroll through one of the city’s many parks, take a step back in time at any of London’s iconic historical sites, or check out one (or more!) of the best museums in the world.

Join us at The Bentley Hotel for the premiere event of the weekend. . . the official Ithaca College London Center 50th Anniversary Celebration. Hear directly from Ithaca College President La Jerne Terry Cornish, Provost Melanie Stein, and the Director of the London Center, Meghan Callahan. Food and beverages will be provided. Dress is business casual.

Say good-bye to old and new friends at the Bentley Hotel, next door to the ICLC. And be sure to stop at the ICLC for one last visit, either before or after breakfast, to write a note with your hopes and advice for future students. Use our ICLC-themed postcards, and drop them into our red ICLC post boxes!
