The Ithaca College London Center (ICLC) is an integral part of many theatre students' experiences at IC, providing the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich dramatic heritage of one of the world’s great theatrical capitals. Theatre students typically attend ICLC in their junior year.
Most students focus their curriculum around 12 credits of experiential coursework, which includes lectures, discussions, intensive readings of British drama, and weekly theatrical walks through London’s streets, theatres, and museums. Additionally, students attend plays approximately twice a week, and guest lecturers enrich the learning experience.
Other courses in the core theatre curriculum include Stage Combat, an acting course for B.F.A. performance students, and Applied Voice for musical theatre majors. Shakespeare is offered each semester for those who would like to take it in London. Internships are available in various areas, including management and technical theatre. Design students often enroll in British art and architecture courses.
In addition to the courses offered as part of the Theatre Program, the London Center offers a wide variety of courses in other subject areas. For example, ICLC offers Irish Literature, British Youth Culture, and classes in British media, music, and history—providing a wealth of excellent courses taught by distinguished British instructors that offer valuable international experience.
