Neal Toscano, a Business Student studying at the London Center, describes his Work Placement experience with the London Program.

London Building

Studying abroad can offer unique opportunities for business students at Ithaca College, even when the program doesn't exactly focus on business coursework. Thanks to the Ithaca College London Center I was able to secure a business internship for a financial technology firm alongside my non-business classes, allowing me to network and gain practical experience while fulfilling my ICC Themes with the ICLC coursework. The London Center does the hard work when it comes to finding internships. After I converted my Resume into a CV as well as developed a cover letter, the London Center matched me with a company through a previous alum who then interviewed me for the role. This experience is not only enriching my understanding of the finance industry and global business practices, but it is also helping me apply my skills in a real-world setting. So far, the hands-on experience I have had has been an invaluable asset to my coursework back in Ithaca.

This internship has provided me with networking opportunities that wouldn’t have been possible before, as well as insights into how different business teams interact with one another around the world. Engaging with professional teams from diverse backgrounds and adapting to new practices improved my problem-solving skills and adaptability. For business students contemplating studying abroad, this program is a hidden gem that can enhance your professional journey while giving you time to finish ICC themes that you might not have had the chance to take yet. Allowing yourself to explore beyond the typical offerings back at home can lead to experiences you wouldn't have originally thought possible as an Ithaca business student.
