Welcome to a semester in Hollywood!

The Ithaca College Los Angeles Program is a one semester internship-based program that provides juniors and seniors with a major or minor in communications the opportunity to gain professional experience in their chosen fields while taking industry-related courses. ICLA classes are taught by Los Angeles-based faculty and industry professionals at the James B. Pendleton Center, located minutes from Burbank and Hollywood.

  • Internships are available in the fields of cinema, photography, television, radio, new media, corporate communications, advertising, public relations, and print/broadcast journalism.
  • Qualified students from other institutions are welcome to apply.
  • The Los Angeles Program accommodates up to 75 students per semester (fall, spring and summer).

How our program works

Before arriving in Los Angeles, students attend an orientation session where they receive information on internships, housing, transportation and academics. At that time, students begin searching for and applying to internships. The process continues when they arrive in LA. Some students will begin their internships right away while others continue to interview until they find internships that best match their interests. 

Our classrooms and offices are in the James B. Pendleton Center, located across the street from the Oakwood Apartments, where our students reside. Housing is assigned before the semester begins. We organize events and outings throughout the Los Angeles area, giving our students a broad range of unique L.A. experiences. The faculty and staff at the Pendleton Center are readily available to answer any questions and assist students not only in finding internships but in settling into one of the most exciting cities anywhere.

Application Deadlines

NOTICE: Early application deadline for Summer 2025 is Friday, November 29, 2024. Application deadline for Summer 2025, Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters is Friday, February 7, 2025.
