Eligibility and Application

NOTICE: Early application deadline for Summer 2025 is Friday, November 29, 2024. Application deadline for Summer 2025, Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters is Friday, February 7, 2025.

Eligibility for current Ithaca College students

  1. Major OR minor in the Park School of Communications, or by approval of the ICLA Program Director. GRADUATING SENIORS are welcome to apply and attend! 
  2. Completed 60 credits by the start of your semester in Los Angeles.
  • 30 of those credits must have been earned at Ithaca College.
  • For communication majors, 15 of those credits must be Park credits.
  • For communication minors, 9 of those credits must be Park credits.
  1. Be in good academic, judicial and financial standing* in the Park School and Ithaca College, with no unresolved issues at the start date of your semester in Los Angeles.
  2. Final decisions for applications are made in consultation with the Park School dean’s office.

*Your name will be submitted to the Judicial Affairs Office and the Office of Student Financial Services to confirm that you are in good standing with the college.

Eligibility for Non-Ithaca College students

1. Communications major OR minor OR related field.
2. Completed 60 credits by the start of your semester in Los Angeles.

  • For communication majors, 15 of those credits must be communications credits.
  • For communication minors, 12 of those credits must be communications credits.

3. Be in good academic, judicial and financial standing with your college or university, with no unresolved issues at the start date of your semester in Los Angeles.

Acceptance and Semester Placement

  • Once a student is accepted into the program, the program staff will review their “Semester Preference” and assign the student to the Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 semester.
  • Priority will be given to students on the basis of their class standing as determined by the number of credits earned by the end of the Spring 2025 semester.
  • The student’s semester placement will be included in their acceptance letter.
  • Explain your semester preference in your LA Program Application. Your explanation will be considered when assigning students to Fall 2025 or Spring 2026.
  • ALL DECISIONS CONCERNING SEMESTER PLACEMENT ARE FINAL. THERE ARE NO WAITING LISTS.
