Abby writes about her experiences at Ithaca College:
Growing up in a small town in upstate NY, was immersed in health care at a young age and became mesmerized by the skills, language, and techniques that interprofessional health care teams used in order to provide a patient-centered approach to care. As a freshman entering Ithaca College in the pre-health professions program, I knew I wanted to transfer into the health science pre-medical major where I learned so much from a challenging family experience which inspired me to enter the pharmacy field. Ithaca College appealed to me because it was a place that allowed me to evolve and select a health profession that fit my aspirations. Upon graduation, I will be attending Binghamton University’s PharmD program.
In reminiscing over the past four years, I will cherish the amazing relationships I formed with professors, faculty, and peers. In particular, Ithaca College gave me the opportunity to gain in-field experience at Cayuga Medical Center as an Opioid Stewardship Project intern and as a teaching assistant, both of which enabled professional and personal growth. I would not be where I am today without the help of the HSHP faculty and staff. I am honored and grateful to be part of such a meaningful community.
