Specialty: MicroEconomics, Natural Resource and Environmental Economics, Experimental Economics
I grew up in suburban southern New Jersey. I graduated from Valparaiso University with a degree in Economics in 1971. After graduation, I helped organize, and provide management training for farmer’s cooperatives in Belize as a Peace Corps Volunteer for 2.5 years. I received my M.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Tennessee in 1977, and then worked for a few years with small scale fishermen in the Gulf of Nicoya, Costa Rico, with the International Center for Marine Resource Development, out of the University of Rhode Island. I came to Ithaca College in 1982, and received my Ph.D. in Economics, Marine Resources, from the University of Rhode Island in 1984. I enjoy teaching Principles of Microeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomic Analysis, Environmental, and Natural Resource Economics. My research interests focus on fisheries and renewable resources, the economics of climate change and sustainability, and on market dynamics. I enjoy the life of a shepherd on a small farm outside the Village of Trumansburg.
