Omicron Delta Epsilon — The International Economics Honors Society

Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE) is one of the world's largest academic honor societies.  The objectives are recognition of scholastic attainment and the honoring of outstanding achievements in economics.  ODE was founded by Professor John R. Commons in 1915 at the University of Wisconsin.  The Department of Economics at Ithaca College sponsors the Alpha Upsilon Chapter.

Currently, ODE has 717 chapters in 11 nations. Potential members are selected based upon either grade point average (GPA) or the recommendation of a faculty member. Members are expected to maintain a 3.3 GPA in their economics courses and an overall GPA of 3.0. Economics majors and minors may become members.  In order to graduate with honors in economics, students must qualify for ODE.

There is a $50.00 initiation fee for a lifetime membership (no annual renewal fees).  In return, students receive a membership scroll; a one-year electronic subscription to the American Economist; and an honor cord given in their graduating year at Ithaca College.

For more information, please contact either the Chair or Penny Bogardus, Departmental Administrative Assistant.  Or, you may visit the ODE Website:  https://www.omicrondeltaepsilon.org/
