The Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management will be implementing a weapons detection system during this year's Commencement Weekend events to provide additional layers of security and safety. All entrances of the A&E Center will be equipped with a Weapons Detection System.
The system is designed to provide automatic screening of people in transit, including carried personal belongings. The system allows for high transit flow and mostly eliminates the need for meticulous investigation of personal belongings and additional screening of non-threatening items.
All attendees of the Graduate Hooding and Commencement, the Commencement Eve Concert, and Sunday's undergraduate Commencement, including graduates, those involved in academic processions, performers, and guests, will pass through the system which consists of two independent self-powered pillars equipped with the electronic analysis system.
