New Student & Transition Programs (NSTP) is dedicated to helping new students develop a strong foundation for success through supportive, inclusive onboarding and orientation experiences that promote preparedness and connectivity. Throughout the summer, our office provides detailed communication and resources for new students and their supporters as they complete their New Student Checklist (NSC) and prepare to come to IC. With our week-long orientation model, we create academic, social, and resource sessions intended to ease the transition to IC. Read through our webpages and check us out on Instagram (@ictransition) to learn more.

2. Take advantage of you campus resources

There are many resources at IC to help you through the application process. Visit the Center for Career Exploration & Development (CCED) for a resume and cover letter review, interview prep tips, and their career closet for professional attire. Reach out to your friends as well - you may know current OLs that can answer your questions. You can also reach out to our office directly! We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the job.
3. Update your resume & cover letter

Your resume and cover letter are the first things the hiring committee will see from you. Make sure the materials you submit are up-to-date and include your most relevant experiences and credentials to highlight what makes you a great OL candidate. You can visit drop-in hours at the CCED to review your materials with a trained Peer Career Advisor (PCA).
4. Pay attention to the details

Paying attention to the details can make a difference in the application process. Make sure to proofread your materials and ensure all parts of the application are submitted, otherwise we can't interview you! You will need a cover letter and resume that are uploaded through the HR portal, as well as a completed Hiring Form (linked in the job description) which will include interview-type questions and information for submitting your references. If you have trouble submitting any details, please let us know.
