Overview of the Curriculum Review Process

The Graduate Curricular Subcommittee/Graduate Council reviews:

Guides and Templates

  • Information on required elements in a course syllabus is available here.

  • For assistance in developing student learning outcomes, this chart of Bloom's Taxonomy (online) provides active verbs to use at each level of the taxonomy (the higher the level of the course, we expect to see higher order learning outcomes as well).

  • NYSED Application to Change or Adapt a Registered Professional Education Program is available here (Please note that all communications with NYSED must go through the Office of the Provost. Please contact the Associate Provost, Graduate and Professional Studies for NYSED-related questions).

Submitting Program or Course Proposals

  • All curriculum proposals must be prepared and submitted through the online Curriculum Inventory Management System (CIM). The CIM system is available at these links:

  • All full-time, continuing faculty members have access to CIM with your netpass user name and password. If you find you do not have access, please contact the Office of the Registrar for assistance.

  • The Office of the Registrar has prepared a user guide for the CIM system, Courseleaf Online Curriculum Management System documentthis guide focuses on how prepare course proposals.

Planning for Program or Curricular Change

  • Proposals for all new and substantially revised programs or courses must be received by the Graduate Council by November 1 to assure timely submission for review by the New York State Education Department.
