In 2020 the Ithaca College Community came together virtually to collectively pause to honor and thank the many individuals who have served this nation in our armed forces. In years past, we’ve gathered in person for a powerful service in Ford Hall, to witness the flag and be moved by beautiful music and words provided by our talented faculty, staff, and students. In 2020, we joined via a virtual Zoom gathering to express our heartfelt appreciation for members of our IC family – our students, faculty, staff, and alumni – who have served the United States, and to all members of our greater communities who have supported our country in one of the most direct and deeply personal ways possible. The 2020 celebration included a live event with music, a history of Veterans Day, and ideas on how to say “thank you” to Veterans in your life. In lieu of being in person, we also highlighted virtual events across the country, featuring parades, film festivals, special veteran guest speakers, and museum tours. IC also established a Virtual Thank you Wall, where community members can leave a personalized note of appreciation for the Veterans in your life.
