Athletics and Events Center

On Tuesday, June 16, 2009, Ithaca College officially kicked off construction of the Athletics and Events Center.

Opened in fall 2011, the $65.5 million Athletics and Events Center, funded by private donations, gives the Ithaca College community a state-of-the-art place to gather, learn, train, and compete. Designed by the architectural firm Moody-Nolan, it is one of the largest indoor venues in Tompkins County and the largest construction project ever at Ithaca College.

• Glazer Arena is a 130,000-square-foot field house that holds an indoor track and field center with a 200-meter, six-lane track, throwing, and jumping areas this space also hold matches for tennis. It doubles as an indoor practice facility for lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, baseball, tennis, golf, softball, and football in addition the numerous club and intramural sports that are sponsored. The arena, with capacity for 6,700, also serves as a venue for campus and community events. The field house contains athletic training and strength training facilities, a press box, athletics offices, team rooms, and locker rooms.
• Higgins Stadium is a 108,650-square-foot outdoor stadium, contains a multi-sport synthetic playing surface that is illuminated to allow for evening use. The stadium can accommodate up to 1,000 spectators for lacrosse and field hockey games. Soccer and Rugby games can also be played , in addition to being a space where a number of other sports can practice.
• Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium is a 47,000-square-foot indoor aquatics facility that includes a nine-lane 50 meter Olympic-size swimming pool, with twenty-one 25 yard lanes, with a diving area and separate hot tub/spa, 2 movable bulkheads, a wet classroom for athletic and academic programs, and spectator seating for 1,000.
• The Wheeler Tennis Courts features six regulation-size outdoor courts and lighting for evening practice and competition.
• The Bredbenner Gallery of Champions-the thoroughfare between the field house and aquatics pavilion—features a hall of fame display.
