At Ithaca College, all students, regardless of their Federal Work Study (FWS) status or international status are eligible to apply for student employment opportunities. This means that even if you do not have a Federal Work Study award as part of your financial aid package, you can still seek and secure student employment.

Here are things to keep in mind when submitting your application for student employment opportunities:

Cover Letter: Our resume never travels alone. Each time you submit your resume to an employer, you should enclose a cover letter. Your cover letter plays an important role in telling your story by showing how the skills from your resume connect to the skills sought in the job or internship description. Prospective Students - Frequently Asked Questions

All student employment positions recruit through the IC Recruitment Cloud. You can apply directly through the posting, following the instructions on the posting. For questions, reach out to Student Employment or to the hiring department.

All students are required to complete the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification in advance of their start date. Students will not be given system access until the Form I-9 has been received in its entirety by Student Employment. Once candidates have accepted their job offer in the IC HR Cloud, they will receive Form I-9 completion and submission instructions.

Please note, the Form I-9 requires students to present original, unexpired documents to verify employment eligibility. Please see here for more information. Students who do not have access to these documents should make arrangements to receive them in advance of their start date. Students cannot use a photocopy of any List A, List B or List C document.

Students must complete the Form I-9 for their first job at IC, but will not be expected to complete the Form I-9 again during their time as a student at IC, unless there is a gap between undergraduate and graduate enrollment. For questions, please contact Student Employment.

All student employment jobs start at New York State minimum wage, as amended from year to year. Raises are not guaranteed. For more information, see the IC Student Compensation Structure.

All students are paid in bi-weekly increments through IC payroll. Late submitted and approved timecards may be processed in the next scheduled payroll with delays. Students can sign up for direct deposit for faster payroll processing.

The employment award is not credited to a student's college tuition account.

There is not a limit to the number of student jobs that a student can work. However, students can only work a maximum of 20 hours weekly for all student jobs during the academic year. It is the student's responsibility to ensure they do not work over twenty hours each week.

Yes. All IC students are eligible for campus employment regardless of Federal Work Study status and can apply to open positions directly through the IC Recruitment Cloud.

Under New York State law, student employees qualify for New York State Paid Sick Leave (PSL). Students accrue one (1) hour of paid sick time for every thirty (30) hours worked. Student employees are part-time employees and do not receive vacation pay or other benefits.
