In Lieu of Waiver To Post
Specialized Hiring
Ithaca College is committed to equitable hiring practices that ensure all students have access to meaningful on-campus employment opportunities. In support of this, we are updating our Student Employment policy: the Waiver to Post process has been officially discontinued for student employment positions.
What This Means for You
All student employment positions must now be posted publicly for a minimum of two business days. This includes Teaching Assistant (TA) roles and other specialized positions previously filled without a public posting.
This policy aligns with our status as an Equal Opportunity Employer and ensures compliance with best practices in student employment recruitment.
How to Maintain Specialized Selection Within Compliance
We understand that some positions require highly qualified candidates—especially roles such as TA's, research assistants, or other academic-support roles. We are here to support you in continuing to identify the right students while remaining compliant.
To do so, you can now include specific screening questions in your job postings that clearly define the qualifications needed for the role. These are the general questions our team has created, if you feel that your department is in need of a different more specialized screening question, you should reach out to Hope Borsic, the Student Employment Specialist directly.
