Mission: The Office of Public Safety is dedicated to fostering a safe, secure, and welcoming campus environment by building trust through proactive engagement and being committed to providing comprehensive, caring, professional service. Public Safety is dedicated to ensuring the well-being of our community by promoting a culture of safety, collaboration, and mutual respect to empower our community to soar.

Vision: To be a community-based public safety agency in higher education, connected to the greater Ithaca community, known for making a positive impact through problem-solving, building strong partnerships, and providing education and outreach to support and connect with those we serve.

Guiding Principles:

  • Community Policing: Constantly building positive and meaningful partnerships for problem-solving. We resolve to address the conditions that give rise to public safety concerns, in constant collaboration with our campus community, and through the application of community-oriented, problem-solving strategies and techniques.
  • Positive Engagement: Enthusiastically protect, serve, and educate our community with the highest degree of professionalism. With flexibility in providing services, we lead by example and are committed to proficiency, reliability, innovation, efficiency, and excellence, in all aspects of our conduct and performance.
