LGBTQ Film Series Screening of The Most Dangerous Year

The Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen film series at Ithaca College kicks off the Spring 2020 schedule on Tuesday, February 4, with "The Most Dangerous Year." Free and open to the public, the film will be shown at 6 p.m. in Textor 103.

In 2016 a small group of families with transgender kids fought a wave of discriminatory anti-transgender legislation sweeping the nation. With civil rights activists and ally lawmakers, they embarked on an uncharted journey for their children's lives and futures in this present-day civil rights story.

“The Corporate Coup d’État”

Cinemapolis

A new documentary, "The Corporate Coup d’État,” will be shown at Cinemapolis on Tuesday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m. The screening will be followed by Q&A with co-producer Jeff Cohen, founding director of the park center for independent media.

The movie examines how we “arrived at Trump." It travels to the "sacrifice zones" of Camden NJ and Youngstown OH to reveal how corporations have hijacked US democracy. The film interviews union workers in Ohio who’d voted for Obama and Bernie Sanders . . . and then flipped to Trump.

Screening of a new Brave New Films documentary “Suppressed: The Fight to Vote” followed by a Q&A session with Jim Miller (TVR '85), the Executive Director of Brave New Films.

This documentary highlights personal stories from voters across the state of Georgia and presents an alarming picture of voter suppression in the 2018 midterm election; features experts, poll watchers and everyday Georgians and exposes how the basic constitutional right to vote continues to be under siege in America. Following the discussion "Being a Settler on Native Land" is a screening of the movie 'Smoke Signals'. This film, fully produced by an all-Indigenous production team, follows the story of two young men, Thomas and Victor, on a journey to retrieve the ashes of Thomas' father.

This event is co-sponsored by the Students of Color Coalition, IC Proud, and DKA Professional Cinematic Society.

Join the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life Tuesday October 8th at 4pm in the Muller Chapel for a screening of the film “Dust-Flower-Flame”, a documentary film about the life of Tahirih Qorratol-eyn, a woman of letters, the effect of whose presence on women’s equality movement in the 19th century during the reign of Qajar has continued up until today.
