LGBT Center and Cinemapolis present talkback on Born To Be, documentary on the work of Dr. Jess Ting

The LGBT Center and Cinemapolis present a talkback on Born To Be, a new film about how one doctor’s work impacts the lives of his patients as well as how his journey from renowned plastic surgeon to pioneering gender-affirming surgeon has led to his own transformation. Born To Be follows the work of Dr. Jess Ting at the groundbreaking Mount Sinai Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery in New York City—where, for the first time ever, all transgender and gender non-conforming people have access to comprehensive quality transition-related health and surgical care.

Day With(out) Art 2020: TRANSMISSIONS

The Ithaca College Center for LGBT Education, Outreach & Services is proud to partner with Visual AIDS for Day With(out) Art 2020 by presenting TRANSMISSIONS, a program of six new videos considering the impact of HIV and AIDS beyond the United States. The video program brings together artists working across the world: Jorge Bordello (Mexico), Gevi Dimitrakopoulou (Greece), Las Indetectables (Chile), George Stanley Nsamba (Uganda), Lucía Egaña Rojas (Chile/Spain), and Charan Singh (India/UK).

"Minding the Gap" Exclusive Viewing and Forum

Need a break from finals? Need a watercooler conversation starter? Need a movie for the watch party?

Try "Minding the Gap" with the Advocacy Center of Tompkins County, Title IX, and the Center for IDEAS. In this award-winning documentary three young men bond across racial lines to escape volatile families in their Rust Belt hometown. Ten years later, while facing adult responsibilities, unsettling revelations force them to reckon with their parents and with each other.

Family Week: Family Movie Night- Karate Kid

Join other IC families for a virtual watch party featuring The Karate Kid, currently unavailable on streaming platforms. The link for the movie will be available at least 30 minutes before the start of the event and will last 48 hours. We encourage you to use the hashtag #SABKarateKid to talk about your movie watching experience!

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

In support and in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness (DVAM) month, the Sexual Violence Prevention Committee (SVPC), is hosting events and workshops throughout the month of October.

Topics will include healthy dating, identifying signs of violence and bystander intervention techniques.

Free virtual screening and discussion of Made in Bangkok, an LGBTQ themed film, cosponsored by ¡CULTURA! Ithaca and the LGBT Center, Sept 23 at 7 pm. As part of CINE con CULTURA film festival featuring Latin American films, in celebration of Latino Heritage Month in collaboration with ¡CULTURA! Ithaca.
